Schoology Partners with Aeries Student Information Systems

New Platform Integration Means More Time for Educators and More Secure Data

NEW YORK (October 9, 2017)—Schoology, the leader in learning management systems (LMS) for education, today announced a partnership agreement and new integration with Aeries Student Information System (SIS) to serve California school districts.

The partnership, based on the IMS Global OneRoster standard, serves to drive forward standards for technical integrations. Users will be able to save considerable time and resources with automatic, secure and reliable exchange of course information, records, materials and grades between systems (no duplicative data entry).

"Schoology seeks to be the most intraoperative platform for educators. Through partnerships such as this, we're continuing to deliver more opportunity and streamlined operations for schools and educators across the country," said Jeremy Friedman, co-founder and CEO of Schoology. "Ultimately, it comes down to giving more time and brain space back to educators, so they can focus on advancing education for each and every student."

Technical Integrations Through IMS OneRoster

The IMS OneRoster API is a subset of the broader Learning Information Services (LIS) standard. By conforming to the LIS and OneRoster specification, vendors such as Aeries can provide a lightweight mechanism for integrating with third-party vendors, like Schoology, allowing for integrations that can be as basic as one-way provisioning, or as advanced as bi-directional integration of grades. With Schoology's adoption of the OneRoster standard, a turn-key integration can exist with any student information system (SIS) that implements the standard.

"The OneRoster standard from IMS Global has provided us a wonderful opportunity to interface with industry leaders like Schoology in a way that avoids custom development for both companies," said Camden Iliff, Vice President, Product Development for Aeries Student Information System. "This seamless integration will certainly be of an incredible benefit to our mutual customers, most notably, teachers, who will spend less time on system interfaces and more time focusing on what matters most, students and instruction."

Schoology is continuously working to make its education cloud the most inclusive learning management system. To learn more about Schoology integrations, see https://www.schoology.com/k-12/interoperability.
