The Gifts that Keep on Giving | #SchoologyChat Recap Holiday Edition

Posted in Community | December 21, 2016

December’s #SchoologyChat featured a warm and inviting holiday theme and was moderated by Schoology Ambassador Kristie Burk, the Cyber and Blended Learning Coordinator at Downingtown Area School District in Downingtown, PA.

Kristie did a masterful job of creating questions that drew on a holiday theme by asking chatters to reflect upon “gifts” that Schoology provided in 2016, and wishes that the #SchoologyChat community has for the future of the platform.

Holiday cheer was abundant, and responses were littered with great resources and fun GIFs that warmed our frigid toes and tickled our funny bones. Kristie’s usage of beautiful holiday themed question images allowed her to ask probing questions that weren’t limited to 140 characters.

The chat was co-moderated by chat founders Cory Klinge (@MrKlinge) and Robert Schuetz (@robert_schuetz) and was attended by many passionate Schoology users.

Looking Back on 2016 ...

2016 was an incredible year for #SchoologyChat. Thank you to everyone in the Schoology community that helped us, including Bridget Heaton (@BridgetHeaton) and Jen Robustelli (@jenastelli) and the architect of the Schoology Exchange, Dylan Rodgers (@tomatokoolaide) for sharing our chat with a global audience.

2017 looks like a bright year for #SchoologyChat as we continue to explore new topics and innovative uses of the platform in order to empower and engage learners of all ages. Join us the first Tuesday of every month at 8:00 PM CST.

Below are the questions and a few stellar answers for our December Chat. You can check out the complete December #SchoologyChat in our Storify archive.

Q2: Every year, people make Santa’s “nice” list. What are some “nice” things that your school or district has done with Schoology this year? Share your successes!

Q3: Every year, people make Santa’s “naughty” list. What are some things that did not go well? Share your failures …

Q4: Rudolph had an amazing gift that went unnoticed for a long time. What are some things in Schoology that you think are being underutilized?

Q5: What is on your holiday wish list for Schoology? What “presents” would you like to get from Schoology in 2017?

Editor’s Note—Schoology recently launched a public Product Roadmap to provide our community with more transparency into the development process.
