Tell Me More About the Sessions

This year, Schoology submitted three PanelPicker entries. From sessions on Learning and Assessment to The Power of Community (that’s you!!), we know that you can help us on our way to SXSWedu.

Here are the sessions we’re proposing:

The Power of One: Learning and Assessment Combined

Districts juggle multiple systems for learning and assessment. LMS’s allow you to create and distribute curriculum, while assessment systems measure student progress. Both are necessary, but there are problems with this two-platform approach—teachers and students must access and use multiple systems; assessment and curriculum are difficult to coordinate; and reporting is hard to act on. This means results are tough to analyze and delivered too late to adapt instruction.

What if you could deliver curriculum and assessment through the same platform and easily access data to check for student understanding every day? This session details the transformational benefits of such a solution.

Assessing Achievement in a Distance Learning World

As higher education has shifted to include a larger proportion of adult, distance, and non-traditional learners than ever before, assessing student achievement in a consistent and scalable fashion at all levels of the institution is of paramount importance.

What are the innovative ways in which institutions are using the many LMS and assessment platforms available to them to tackle this new challenge and make substantive improvements in learning outcomes?

This community-guided discussion will arm attendees with an understanding of how institutions are bootstrapping assessment and learning technologies to make gains in student achievement across this surging population of learners.
